Springdale is a fast-growing city located in the Ozark Mountain foothills of Northwest Arkansas. This area is the center of the international poultry industry as well as home to several major trucking firms. Elmdale Elementary School is one of sixteen elementary schools in the Springdale School System. It is a neighborhood school, located in the middle of its school community, which eliminates the need for busing its students (except for those transported to daycare facilities, to middle school, or by required transfer). Our school is one of the older facilities in the Springdale School System, having been built in 1965. We have a separate library media center (built in 1974), which is connected by a covered walkway. Our P.T.A. honored us with a new mini-gym in 1993. We have 10 acres of playground area with a tennis court, basketball court, and a soccer field. Visitors are welcomed to Elmdale by a large outdoor marquee featuring our mascot, the Elmdale Eagle. Every classroom is equipped with a computer and internet access, which connects the classroom to the world. This luxury was given to the Springdale School District by Mrs. Bernice Jones, who also built the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families, for which we are very thankful. Elmdale's certified staff consists of 43 teachers, our Principal and our Assistant Principal. We have 31 classified staff. Here at Elmdale, we believe that it is of utmost importance that while our students learn academic skills, they also learn to live harmoniously with one another. We strive to provide a caring atmosphere that encourages our students not only to tolerate differences, but to appreciate the rich diversity of the people of our community and world. We work with each child to be sure they are living up to the standards that we know they are capable of and help them deal with any problems they may run into, so they will be able to cope with other problems life may throw them in the future.
