Parents,
Please make sure your child is here before 8:00 a.m. every day. We have had an excessive amount of tardies in the past few days. Your child loses valuable instruction time when they come to school late. If the tardy is unexcused, your child will not be allowed to make up the work he/she has missed. If the tardies continue, you could recieive daily phone calls asking why your child is continually late.
ELMDALE
CELEBRATES RED RIBBON WEEK: Red
Ribbon week is October 22 - 26th. The official theme will be , "Look at
Me, I'm Drug Free". We have a scheduled special event every day during
this special week. We will celebrate the final day of Red Ribbon Week by
selling our wonderful candy bars for $ 1.00.
Monday:
Our Future's so Bright, We Gotta Wear Shades Day.
Students and staff will wear sunglasses to shade out drugs.
Tuesday: Staying Drug Free is No Sweat Day. Students and staff will wear red sweats, if possible.
Wednesday:
Put on Your Thinking Cap and Stay Drug Free Day. Students and staff will
wear hats.
Thursday:
Hooked on Books, Not Drugs Day. Students and
staff will drop everything and read, read, read from 2:30-2:45.
Friday:
Sweet Dreams, Not Drugs Day. Students and
staff will wear pajamas to school.
New Homework Policy: Homework can only be requested for excused absences after the student has been absent for three or more days. You must call before 10:00 a.m. on the third day to request the homework and it will be ready for pick up after 2:30 p.m.
Recycling News: Remember to keep bringing in plastic bags for our Wal-Mart plastic bag recycling program. We have over 25 huge bags to deliver to Wal-Mart. We get $5.00 for each bag. Last year we received over $ 800.00 just for recycling plastic bags. Keep bringing in those plastic bags. there is a green box at the front of the school to place them in. Thanks for your support of this worthwhile program.
T-Shirt
News - Our new royal blue t-shirts
should be in this week. They will be $ 10.00. We also should have
info regarding sweatshirts and hoodies.
Our school store is open every day from 7:00-7:50 a.m. We sell pens, pencils, paper, spiral notebooks, pocket folders, erasers, and lots of cool school supplies. We also have a new shipment of "smencils".
Every Friday is "Spirit Day" at Elmdale. Wear an Elmdale Eagle t-shirt or any red, white and blue shirt. We sell t-shirts for $7.00 in the office.
Parent Center - We have a wonderful parent center in Room 202. There are lots of great educational games, books and instructional materials you can check out.

A NOTE FROM ELMDALE PTA
PTA hopes that you had a great summer! We are glad to have all our Eagles back to the nest!
Elmdale is looking for some great VOLUNTEERS! Yes, we mean you! You think you might not have much to offer, but you are wrong. Everyone is valuable in some way and we will find it for you. PTA would love to see you helping with what ever you feel comfortable doing. Teachers are always needing some extra help. They need help making copies, cutting and stapling papers. They would also like some volunteers to listen to students read. Elmdale would also like to start a new program. We would like to have "Greetors" in the lobby in the mornings and afternoons to help parents locate rooms, pay lunch money, and answer questions. If you would like to volunteer to do any of the items listed , at any time, for any length of time, please call Mr. V at Elmdale at 750-8859, Could you donate 3 hours at anytime at this school year? Think about it!
